Description
Two days ago I bumped into a commercial for the Mortal Engines movie (of which I never heard about before) and noticed this scene where I loved the colors and the character style so decided to paint the still.
Hilights:
-The hair was quite fun to do because it required me to make the right paint strokes. Also adding in the smaller hairs was fun and easy to do.
Applied some texture brushes for the jacket.
-The kindle I did using a brush for the shapes, but then adding a color dodge glow layer (and enhancing some with individual CD at the late stages).
-Again the color palette isn't all that complicated; decided to stay true to it (no more soft light white + black this time).
-Used a nice trick I learned from JelArts (www.youtube.com/user/MissDoodl… ) to make a black filled multiply layer to check the values. This actually helped me fix some values that I otherwise would've overlooked; so I'm gonna stick with that. It also pushed me towards using better colors for the rouge (making it not look as filthy).
-Getting a better grasp of using the right layer blends for the effects I want to achieve.
-I improvised on the eyes lighting. It's subtle but it's a small win for me.
Sidenote: I'm kinda surprised that I'm getting faster at these.
