Description
Picked up an older sketch and wanted to color it because I loved the emotion in the sketch.
Process:
Enhanced some linework of my sketch to make the right things pop and tried to get a better hair shape going
Went for desaturated base coloring.
From there I added in a gradient multiply layer and because I wanted this dark stage thing I upped the % beyond 20%. I'd compensate with color dodge.
Another different touch was that I made the gradient background earlier on, I then used the blue in the center to improve the shading on the character.
For base shading I used an orange color since her skin color was more yellowish.
The bloom effect was achieved using Linear dodge. Same goes for the sparkles. The ones in the back, I gaussian blurred a bit.
For the microphone top I used a texture
Later I revisited it because I didn't do a good job in hiding that its a texture and toned down the contrast and brightness and painted over texture of my own to better also communicate the shape.
