Aspen often comes off as a difficult person to approach, as she really isn’t into conversations that much. She’s pretty blunt and kind of rude, seemingly for no other reason than being a jerk. She tends to act like this to push people away, as she doesn’t want to get close to anyone. Her heart can’t take it lmao.
-Seemingly Emotionless
Aspen is not that great at expressing her feelings, as her voice tends to be monotone, quiet, and kind of dry. Doesn’t help that her face doesn’t really change either. She’s pretty hard to read.
-Reserved/Independent
Aspen tends to keep to herself and not tell many people anything. She often comes off as mysterious and a bit frightening because of this.

One of Aspen’s obvious features, when you see her, is how intelligent she is. She is great at gathering individual pieces of information and linking them together when they seemed like they had no ties, more advanced puzzles are easier for her, and the way she speaks sounds like she’s much older. She relies more on her logical side rather than emotions and it shows. Of course, she still makes mistakes, but more often than not, she’s usually right.
-Cunning
Despite not really fond of talking, when she REALLY wants to, she can use her wits to get what she wants. Usually, this is only when she’s working and trying to get information off of a suspect. Stuff like that.
-Careful
Due to all the misfortune in her life, this led to Aspen being a cautious person. She does this with pretty much any situation, whether it be with a decision or with a relationship of any kind. It only makes it even harder to get close to her.
-Gentle/Sweet
Even though Aspen comes off as pretty intimidating, she’s actually really gentle and loving under her tough guise. Especially when it comes to kids. She’s only really like this mostly with close friends and family, trying to be more aware of how they are feeling to not hurt them accidentally. She even looks happy sometimes when she’s with them. She usually doesn’t like acting this way with others as she doesn’t want to come off as “weak”.
-Motherly
  Aspen has a huge soft spot for children. She absolutely adores them and is a really good babysitter. Her best friend has a child of her own, and Aspen can’t help but shower the child in love when she lays eyes on her- If she did have a small group of friends, she’d definitely be the mom friend lmao.

(TLDR, this is somewhat long, I apologize in advance haha. Basically, she's lived with her father all her life till he is killed. Then she ends up on the streets for a year an a half, then is found by a social worker. Eventually is adopted and has a new family. Becomes a detective to avenge her father and protect people she cares about.)

Aspen was born and raised in a small apartment that she and her papa shared. Her mother had been out of her life for quite some time, and she didn’t understand why. Her papa didn’t say much about his wife’s sudden disappearance when she was only three years old. But it was okay, she was pleased to have her papa around when he was home. He worked a lot to support them, but that meant that Aspen was often on her lonesome. They didn’t have enough money for a babysitter or daycare, hell they were barely living. He trusted his baby girl though, she learned to be quiet and take care of herself. Aspen learned through trial and error how to cook, clean, etc. She became very independent because of this, and somewhat a shut-in. The other kids thought she was a weirdo, as she hardly said a word and often shook her head at anything said her way. When she did talk, her words came out as cold and blunt, prompting the other children not wanting to hang out with her. Although Aspen didn’t care much for their opinions on her anyway. She didn't need friends in her mind. She only cared about doing her best to make her papa happy, and her love for books. They were her way of escaping the dim life she lived, at least for a little while. She often went to the library to the point everyone knew her. She found it a good way to fulfill her love for literature while not having to put a strain on their already low income.

Everything was going well, until one day her papa barged into the apartment and told her she had to get a bag of her things. They had to leave immediately. Even though she didn’t understand why at first, Aspen obeyed his orders. It must’ve been something scary, as his voice sounded shaky. It scared her too despite not knowing what was going to come next.

“Baby stay here. I need to go check something. If anything happens, run.” He told her and sprinted to their shitty car before she could retort. He was looking around frantically as he tried to get the car going. But he never did. Instead, Aspen finally realized why her papa was so frantic. A group of strange men crept up onto the car and dragged him out. They were yelling about something she couldn’t quite hear. There were too many voices talking all at once to understand. They dragged him down to a nearby alleyway and continued their “conversation” there. Aspen quietly followed, concerned for her papa’s safety. Suddenly, an ear-piercing noise rings out and it catches Aspen by surprise. The strange men stood there for a moment when they spoke in a hushed tone for a moment or two. It sounded like they were talking about to do with the body...Wait. Body? Aspen craned her head to peer at the men and her eyes widened. Her papa laid dead at their feet. She stood there in shock and silently started sobbing. It was long enough for them to notice her. The men yelled and advanced towards her, not pleased in having a witness to this exchange. They tried grabbing her but she was too fast and nimble for the bumbling large men. Aspen’s adrenaline kicked into high gear and she began to run. Anywhere but here was better. As she ran, the men shot at her, and most of them missed. Except for one bullet. It pierced right through the edge of her left ear, barely scraping her head. Even with the searing pain, she ran as fast as she could and hid in a small crevasse. She stayed silent until she was positive she was alone.

For about a year and a half, Aspen was homeless. She had no one but herself to rely on, as she didn’t trust anyone. Not after what happened to her papa. She resorted to whatever she had to do stay alive, sometimes stealing was the only option. She didn’t like a lot of the things she did, but it was necessary to her survival. Like how much she lied. About who she was, her family, etc. She would sometimes beg for money, saying she needed a little bit to feed a younger sibling she didn’t have. Something like that at least. Also, Aspen often traveled around the city, not being able to stay in one place for too long. It just wasn’t safe to. The only things she had were the items she was given or stolen, and the bag she packed the day her papa was murdered. It contained a stuffed toy, some clothes, a book she loved, and the only photo she had of her and her papa.

She managed to get by with just those things and her wits. Eventually, a social worker found her wandering the streets and took her to a nearby orphanage. Aspen stayed there for a couple years and eventually was adopted into a loving family. During her time in the orphanage, she stayed pretty isolated from everyone. She avoided contact when it was possible. , Aspen was a hard girl to get to know. Regardless, she was adopted by this young couple that already had a baby. Aspen was still cautious of them and took a while for her to warm up to her new family. Once she did she became very attached to them and wanted to do anything in her power to protect them. Already planning to get justice for her papa, she started to research and train to become a detective. To hopefully avenge him and protect the ones she loves.

She currently is working with the police force, on assignments she gets every once and awhile. Also taking the time to research and find anything about the people she saw that fateful day when she is able to.
