Description Three feral barn cats keeping a watchful eye out for any sign of danger.  Owls, hawks, humans and all manner of cat-eating monsters!   They are peeping out from under the barn door where the bucket calves are bawling for my brother in law to hurry the heck up with their milk bottles!

I tried for 20 minutes to catch all three looking right at me to no avail--only one at a time would look directly at me   Once again, these aren't lap cats--they are wild (feral)

Owls and Hawks would kill and eat those cats?
Don`t think I would have the patience to be a wildlife photographer of sorts Eye contact is very important...Terrific detailed, textured capture too John

Oh yeah!  Cat is for sure on the menu for owls and hawks! Coyotes think they taste like chicken too!

I'm with you on the wildlife shooting--it's frustrating   Not really my kind of thing, really.  I prefer subjects that behave normally and don't move much   Thanks brother!

Don`t hear of that over here, guess the Owls or Hawks aren`t big enough and the only Coyote you will see is sweating his ass off trying to catch that Road Runner on the cartoon network

True survivors they are   I have two housecats at home so it's hard for me to see them so full of fear   It's the way of things though and they will always be there.  Thanks Mariette

Cooperation is not the hallmark of cats... even domesticated ones.  I admire your perseverance.    (And there can never be too many cat pictures!)

That's true, Tris   They might cooperate for a little bit but not for long and they won't be herded either ;no:  I must have stirred them up or set them against me because when I go outside they scatter. so only got the pics I got that day and I have a few more to share

Thank you!

Since they congregate when the poddy calves are being fed....methinks their very own bowl of milk might keep them in view for you to get a good shot of them.  Just think....a BIG bowl of milk and you would have all 18 sitting around the bowl for a slurp.

Corvidae65 In reply to SilEnigmaArts [2014-04-04 14:28:11 +0000 UTC]

It would be a cool shot but they tend to eat in shifts.  I suppose there is some kind of hierarchy.  The ones not eating keep watch for danger.  We put out a good sized bowl of table scraps the other night  and none would come to the bowl until we were out of sight but we watched from the kitchen window.  (we did find that, like me, they won't eat raspberry Jell-O! )

Hahaha.....I challenge you to find a cat that WOULD eat any kind of jello unless it tasted of fish
