Description As you've just walked into the room and interupted the Inspector's train of thought....

Time to meet the family. Inspector Henry Loveland, retired NY Metropolitans. It's 1883 and yes this is my personal 'Javert/Perkins' inspired character. As Monsi er Hugo left no doubt as to Javert's death, I saw no other way to enjoy his 'continuing story' except by literary reincarnation. Favoring the cut and style of his old uniform, sans PD insignia of course, he can often be found in shirt sleeves and uniform vest, working on consultations.

Pencil on drawing paper, mayhaps better suited for scraps?
And there you have it.

Absolutely do not banish to scraps! I love it - and the beautiful confidence of your sketching style. There's nothing tentative about it - it's as sure as the character you're drawing.

you flatter me! Your (consistently)magnificent work has been very inspiring, but I would never be able to achieve a tenth of your skill! I'm okay with that as long as you keep adding more!!

Isn't it odd how we see these things? I look at your sketches and think goodness...wish I could get that depth - the intensity of the gaze in particular, but also the strong character delineation!

And i look at your work and see characters I do not really know except by name and find myself believing in them, their love, their 'selves', the fire that moves them ersonally and politically. You have the gift of touching the truth and sharing it with strangers, and i am VERY pleased to have found you on DA! And your comments are much valued and appreciated!!

For what it's worth, I really like pencil sketches. And this one is nicely done.

I love how Perkins's face has the ability to be engraved into one's retina. I remember after watching all the Psycho movies I kept drawing him in my notebook.

Awesome as always!

He has such interesting features...and he rarely blinks which adds to his memorable 'edge' I think. But those lips-- the bane of my existence-- hey, lets see some of those notebook sketches, woman! MANY thanks for the awesome....there's a nude; hiding in scraps I may just pull (no pun intended!) as perhaps the world is not prepared for naked Javert?

This artwork has great depth - not only as a work of art, but also in the character portrayal - this is a man of layers - deep, complicated and noble. Excellent work once more.

Aww I love him. You capture "the Inspector" so well, whether it's Javert, or in this case, Inspector Loveland

Now why would I do that, I want you to keep drawing damn it!! LOL seriously you are creating some of the best Javert/Les Mis art I've ever seen. I don't how you do it (and so quickly!) but please keep it up!

i don't know what to say-- (IMPOSSIBLE! Me? Speechless??) Really, you are entirely too kind! Your comments are appreciated more than I can say. Well, i better be off to draw a few more members of the household, and I'm sure Javert will be making an appearance again soon-- he is never far off!
