Model: AshOk this is a different format for me. I typically keep everything in the camera 1:1.5 ratio but was not happy with so much top/bottom room and didnt want an arbitrary cropping.
This is done for an upcoming gallery showing of mine based on the female canvas, and wanted some high contrast b/w's So this is shown in the ratio of the print size 10x30. You can order this as a 10x30 print directly from me.
It is a photograph, did some curves, dodge/burn, then b/w conversion.

I really love her Ink in this one.. usually I admire the photography and subject at hand more than the ink stains, but not only does the photo set well, and the model look as if she is gorgeous, but those are some intense wings...

I've heard it referenced a few times, but I'm still a bit confused on what "dodging" and "burning" is. One person described it as lightening and darkening... is there more to it? Is it some kind of PS/CS filter?

well its a process that started with film. It is a tool in PS, dodging-to lighten and burning-to darken. I use the tool at times, but it can be harsh so I use another method using a greyscale layer and then using the brush with black-burn and white-lighten.
