What I did was run around in the grass for like 3 hours trying to find shinies and I got this guy

I still prefer to breed eggs though, I believe there's a higher chance too.

If you use the masuda method, chances increase fivefold in generation four and sixfold in generation five and onward. However, without the MM the chances of a shiny encounter and shiny hatching are the same, 1/8192
