of hot water running down reddened skin
rivvets running down your neck
collecting in the hollow of your collar bone
over your arms and elbows and ribs,
your fingers through your hair with soap
your hands all over your own body

I pretend that we aren't scary new creatures
and we know what we are doing and why
but wrapped up in threadbare towels
standing on the floor in your kitchen
