I feel the same. Despite being a pretty weak demon he was very loyal and never abandoned his master - no matter how many times Sesshoumaru ditched him. Jaken even helped take care of Rin (although I'm pretty sure he was probably threaten by violence or death by Sesshoumaru into doing this.) by helping protect her, help her gather food, and 'babysit' her whenever Sesshoumaru when off by him self for what ever reason. At one point in the manga Jaken kept Rin from tending to the injured Sesshoumaru, because Sesshoumaru was in an foul mood after his fight against Mōryōmaru. This was just before Tōtōsai showed up to reforage tenseiga.
