No, this is not a redesign, but a headcanon design. Something like “if this had happened, that would have happened or that would not have happened.”
So... If Dusk had been born a little different, then most likely Miyuki would not have abandoned her after birth.

“She... She reminds me of our mother. I don’t want anything to connect me with her”. Of course, her older sister tried to tell her that she was not acting quite wisely, but she accused her of betrayal and kicked her out, not wanting to listen to anything else. And a couple of days later she disappeared without any trace, leaving Dusk alone.

Perhaps I will talk about this sometime later, as well as about the Matthias and Miyuki family in general.
And yes, that pony got a name, yippee-
