Description
Atop the highest mountains are sacred forests, home to the great wind spirits. Pilgrims once made journeys to the peaks to pay homage to the Moon and all the celestial beings who honour the night sky with their presence, building small shrines up the mountain to guide their way. Most of these places are overgrown, antiques that are now part of the mountain. These shrines are said to now be homes for the Katumi, small beasts who snuggle between moss and carved stone to avoid the frigid mountain nights. Their shells sparkle like starlight and are said to be worth a fortune-- staying beside a Katumi as it sheds its shell and regrows a new one is said to bring unimaginable good luck. A great alter atop one of these mountains are said to house a huge collection of Katumai of vivid colours, but entering the alter and taking a Katumi from it is said to bring the wrath of wind spirits, who see them as peaceful neighbours.
