For what it is worth, that would not be a complete lie; there robotic bodies became incapacitated, consequently killing them, forcing their spirits to return to their immobile bodies in Saturn Valley of the 199X temporal period.

True...true...now that I think about it. Since their minds were transferred...but what about the soul? The soul would be there but the body is unable to do anything without the brain.

I can propose a simple explanation right now. Dr. Andonuts' designed the robots' craniums with the capability of storing Psionic energy; similar in fashion to Counter-PSI Unit with the item's description in mind, "Contains the PSI of enemies ." The Chosen Four concentrated on the robots with utmost focus to the point where their "spirits" left their bodies as manifested PSI. Their brains remained within the bodies, but in a camatose state due to the lack of conscious or what have you since they were transferred within the robots. When the robot bodys were destroyed back in the Cave of the Past post-Giegue/Gyiyg/"The Geek"/Giygas' death, the "spirits" left the Psionic storing craniums. The Chosen Four's spirits had to wait for the sands of time to drop when they will find their bodies in Saturn Valley of 199X; they could re-possess their bodies before they expired. Okay, maybe it is not that simple; at least it is presumably comprehensible XD.
