Description We went out about 6 miles from the Fenhalloway River looking for trout, cobia, red fish and (almost) anything that would take the bait.
Caught by my boyfriend.

Anyone happen to know what type of fish that is?

yeah, thats what happened to us too... they never puffed up for some reason. the boat capt. said sometimes they do and sometimes they dont. usually when they are threatened they will puff up but supposedly he said when they are in "shock" such as being out of water they wont.

im not saying that's all true 100% or that he was right about the fish BUT still lol

im just tryin to help.

Was a big help; looked it up and from what I found it's a bullseye puffer fish. We've been wondering what those things were since I caught one the first trip out.
They are funny little things- had one flop off the hook in the boat and chase us. Better than catching lady fish or having pinfish steal the bait.
