I believe it should be okay. You may have a little less hair to deal with, but the steps should all be more or less the same.

How would you wet the hair on a Twilight doll? I want to do this, but I don't want to ruin the form of the body during the wetting process.

You could try placing the doll in a plastic bag, wrapping paper towel around the base of her hair, and then having just her mane sticking out of the partially closed opening of the bag. Styling her hair this way will be a little trickier, but you should still be able to get half decent results.

And here is where I'd put all my MlP merchandise...if I had any!

I've heard some bad things about trying this with tinsel-haired ponies. I would suggest trimming the tinsel strands out before styling them, which is actually a little less work than it seems.

Hi! And thank you so much for the tutorial β₯ well... I followed every step and my Twilight looked awesome but time has passed and her mane turned crazy and sooo frizzy D: why this happened? T^T

Hmm. You may have to secure her hair again and give it another heat treatment under the lamp or other heat source you used, and possibly get the hair hotter than before.

Hey there ^-^
Just a quick question. On some of the mlp figures when you wet the hair and comb it, it separates and looks a bit of a mess. Why does this happen?Β
Β

The hair is probably just extra messy. Try brushing it while it is being rinsed in hotter water and see if that helps.

aww
see this is why school should be illegal
cause it interferes with ponies having canon hair styles

This is so freaking cool! I was browsing looking for how to add hair realistically to a photo Im doing and saw this, thought I'd click due to my daughters (and my own obsesion with MLP. I thought this was a drawing hair tutorial and I was so surprised to see this!Β
It is a disgrace the way this company is turning out these dolls, and I want to do this sooo bad! I just got her all of them to complete her collection, and she has tons of my 'old' ones, but this new group of ponies is pretty cool I must say and making her hair this way looks like it will take a lot of time but something her and I can do together and she will think its awesome! I see you have the other ponies as well! Do you have access to the new equestria dolls that they have made? Id love to see how to 'spruce' up their hair as well, since it just comes all tangled and raggetty!Β
I bought her the dolls and the movie for her christmas and santa bought her the rest of the ponies to add to the group; rarity, another twilight sparkle that has wings, and a few others, but anyways thank you this is great! and i am going to look at your other tutorials as well and watch your page Β cuz you are one awesome gal in my book just from seeing this! best wishes

I say go for it. This Twilight is my only one. Styling your only Twilight will encourage you to be as patient and conscientious as you should be to style her hair properly.

I would advise against it. Hairgel and glue tend to make a mess and can make the hair look grungy.

Does the lamp have to be, "hot"? Like, warm. To dry her? Mine for now is sitting in front of the window. Also, can she be air-dried? Like with air. A fan. Or just sitting out in the open?
π: 0 β©: 1
countschlick In reply to bannylou [2013-08-02 16:32:26 +0000 UTC]
The hair needs to get up to about 50 degrees Celcius (120 degrees Fahrenheit) for the curls to set properly. If the window sill you set your pony on is difficult to rest your hand on because it is hot, then the window is probably warm enough. Otherwise, you may need to find another heat setting method.

Ok. My rarity turned out perfect! One of the straws on her head curl is still in there, but you can't see it, and it turned out great and didn't fall! My twilight also turned out great! The bangs stayed together, with only a very tiny gap in between.
thanks!
