Her hands clasped behind her back Cathy looked out of the large window of the transfer shuttle. The shipyards were bustling with activity, something she could now admire even more after having been transferred to the starbase. Shuttles, workbees, tenders and other small craft were flying past the slow moving transfer shuttle as it made its way to the large opening of the base, as each of them going about their business. As the transfer shuttle left the the cavernous interior of the starbase they were greeted twin moons and the full vastness of the shipyards. She knew she could only see a small section of the massive complex but even then she could make out various construction and administrative structures that were part of the infrastructure of the shipyards.

For a moment her reflection caught her of guard and her hand instinctively went to her collar... the new rank insignia still felt weird after being freshly added a week ago during a small ceremony aboard the USS Trinidad by captain M'Garr. She frowned moving her hand away from the new rank pip. She would never admit it but she missed the crew and sturdy old Miranda class starship. She had known the whole ship from bow to stern as a first officer and knew everyone from the lower decks up the command, it being a relative small ship compared to the massive Galaxy class starships.

She remembered her being summoned to the Captain's ready room and after entering was surprised by seeing all her fellow command staff officers... which had become friends during the 3 years she had served on the ship. Captain M'Garr had given her, what she had learned during her first week aboard, a broad smile; showcasing a row of sharp teeth that was distinct feature of the Caitian species. his tail slowly moving in a relaxed way as he got up from behind his desk and picked up a small box which he opened for her to see. The golden pip sitting atop a blue velvet background.

"Didn't see that one coming now did you commander Stevens?" He said with a smirk as he placed the pip on her collar. "Or should I say captain Stevens?" She had been at a loss of words but the the grins and congratulations quickly made it clear it had not been a dream. Lieutenant Magya S'Harn embracing her, tears in her eyes. "Congrats Cathy." Even lt. Commander Sarot, their Vulcan chief engineer, seemed to be beaming, albeit he would never acknowledge that. As he gripped her hand and shook it. "My best wishes to you and your new command... captain Stevens."

Captain Stevens, she murmured it had felt weird being called that but she had tried to get used to it. The journey to the shipyard, and her new command, had given her enough time to reflect.
She again looked out of the window, the transfer shuttle was nearing dock 6A... and her new ship. She could already make out the features of the single nacelle ship... a Liberty Class upgrade from the Freedom Class frigate.

The deflector module was just about to be placed she noted with satisfaction. Having been briefed by the chief of the shipyard only a moment ago she had been assured the ship would be ready in only a few hours, which seemed to be the case. And just in time for her shakedown cruise as well.

As the shuttle got closer she could make out the name U.S.S. Saladin, NCC 500-A brightly lit by the dock and its own lights. The fusion reactors and warpcore being online to power the ship. The deflector was the last major part that had be completed... and she was sure there would be more kinks as the shake down cruise commences but that was the fun of it all. She could barely wait and see what would be in store.

"We are on final approach." The pilot said as they made a slow turn going over the bridge towards the main shuttlebay located behind it. She nodded and took a seat. Time to meet her new ship and crew.
