Description
This is the current state of play. The tender top is in a plastic bag overnight, covered in Fairy Power Spray which, according to at least one internet forum, is supposed to strip the paint off without harming the plastic body. I am expecting to have to order a new tender top, not least because it looked as if the previous owner had got glue all over the place.

The loco body - numbers taken off, rearmost cab windows taken out (I never saw one in real life with both cab windows closed, although it probably did happen. It just looked wrong). The dome has been shaved off and the top feed casing built up with 'Milliput' to represent a domeless boiler. What looks like a dome over the top feed - wasn't. It was just part of the top feed casing. Only the first dozen or so 8Fs had this, but a lot of Black 5s had domeless boilers. Anyway, when it has all hardened off, it will be sanded down to the correct profile.
