This one obviously slipped the net of my Didcot pictures as I couldn't find it in the gallery. No. 5051, Drysllwyn Castle (later Earl Bathurst) rests at Didcot in the Autumn of 1982. Over 40 years ago (God). Longer than the engine was in service. A lot longer. She is carrying the headboard 'The Dalesman', and despite researching all the normal websites (Six Bells Junction et al), I have failed completely to identify a train of this name that ran in 1982. Perhaps someone out there knows. Or, perhaps, the headboard was someone's prized piece of railwayana which they just wanted to hang on a 'Castle' for photographs.

I have "sepia'd" this picture as it is scanned from an elderly and deteriorating colour print. Maybe I will find the negative one day.
