British Railways-built 'large prairie' 2-6-2T No. 4160 with 'Cornish Riviera' headboard waits at Buckfastleigh station (on a Devon branch line) on August 28, 2006. Tank locomotives such as this one would not have normally carried express train headboards. However, there were times when the turntable at Penzance shed was out of action for repairs and then a batch of these large prairie tanks would be temporarily transferred into Cornwall from distant depots.ΒRelated content
