Description Although it looks side-on, this picture was in fact taken from our coach further back in the formation. 'David Lloyd George' negotiates Ddault Spiral Loop with the 11.35 from Blaenau Ffestiniog on July 13, 2018.

The telegraph wires and signboard spoil the shot but I had to grab what I could and was just pleased to get the sun on the red livery......

'David Lloyd George' (FR No. 12) was completed in 1992 so is rather more 'up-to-date' than 'vintage' but at least looks the part. A further Double Fairlie, 'James Spooner II' is scheduled for completion in 2020. This will join the other FR Fairlies, of which only two, No. 12 and No. 10. 'Merddin Emrys'Β remain in service.

There's lovely for you.

Back in the day (when they ran proper trains rather than 2 car DMUs) you used to be able to do the same at "Horseshoe Curve" on the West Highland Line.

Oh that would have been something to experience...... I'd like to do the Jacobite run one day.

These days the Jacobite (if it still exists as a service, only runs from Am Gearasdean* to Mallaig.

*Gaelic, which translates as "The Garrison", and is the Gaelic name for Fort William. Yes, that most assuredly is a political statement!
