but if there's backlight on the character, shouldn't there be backlight on the environment too (the trunk and the trees)?
still, amazing artwork - I'm just a beginner in painting so don't take my feedback very serious - just came to my mind while looking at the pic

The lines on the character weren't intended to act as a light (supposed to be more of an outline) since I did the actual lighting and shading to look more natural. I do see how it would look like lighting though.
