Summer vacation (also called summer break) is the summer school vacation between semesters and the longest of the school year. Out of school students and instructors are usually between 6 and 14 weeks, depending on the state and district. In the United States, summer vacation is about 2.5 months, from mid-June to early September. In Ireland, Italy, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, Lebanon, Romania and Russia, summer vacation is usually three months, compared to six to eight weeks in Australia, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Canada and Germany.
