The Final Illustration.I was happy with it. Doing all of the concept work was great, and I learned a lot about process.
For a digital painting class I took last semester.

I absolutely love this! The lighting is extremely well done and the emotion is dead on.
If you don't mind me asking, is there a story behind this piece? I feel that you had something rather powerful in mind judging by the strong emotion in this illustration.

Oh my goodness, this was years ago. What I do remember is that the short story this is based upon is "the alien interloper". In this scene, the character is looking at an image of her loved ones in some sort of photographic cube device before she goes and explores a disturbance on her ship (which is actually a scary alien creature).
It was an assignment for a digital painting class.
