Description It took me 2 readings and watching the miniseries as well as the kiera knightley movie to like this story. Once I gave in, I was hooked.Β

Decided to do some p&p fanart. Woot.Β

Squeee love it my favorite novel, and the only chick flick I actually get into. (my favorite is the 1995 TV serial with Colin Firth, REALLY don't like the kiera knightly one, sorry )

Yay I'm glad you like it! I can see how the 1995 version is a lot of people's favorite. It seems to be a bit more true to the novel. at least that's what I remembered.

I love this! I actually fell in love the first time I read it. I've become such a sucker for romance lately.

How many movies or tv series are there? I really to get started watching all of the story's incarnations, but I don't know where to start.Β

NagaChelsi In reply to Emmaethyst [2013-11-15 02:37:17 +0000 UTC]

For the tv series I think there is only one and it's with Colin Firth I think it was made in the early 90's. As for movies the only one I know of is the one with Kiera Knightley. I fell in love with the story as well and am glad there's fanart for it. What do you think of the characters?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Emmaethyst In reply to NagaChelsi [2013-11-16 06:42:23 +0000 UTC]

Well Mr Darcy was my first favorite, I'm instantly drawn to theΒ villain-like characters everyone else seems to hate for some reason. I loved that he was such a grouch to everyone but Elizabeth and reading about their extremely awkward moments together. I was squealing constantly whenever he just showed up to talk to her in the story. Seriously, he's just so ugh... freaking amazing. His change from the "snooty and arrogant guy" to "guy whose actually saved all of your butts" was incredible.

Elizabeth became really great for me too. I loved that she was so opinionated and knew what she wanted for herself. Independent but not obnoxiously feminist you know? So rare to find that kind of main character in that time period. I felt so joyful and awful right along with her on her ups and downs throughout the story, especially when she read Mr Darcy's letter and realized how awful she'd been to him.Β

As for other characters, I liked Mr Bingley a lot too. He was the average cute guy with a great personality, almost Disney prince like. Mr Wickham I sensed something off about from the start. I remember thinking "No don't trust him! he's a player!" and then his whole lying about everything and running off with Lydia came through.Β

So yeah, I really love the story based on the book alone. I really should start watching some TV show or Movie about Pride and Prejudice, typing this has made me remember how much I totally love the story.Β

I loved that about Darcy too! His awkwardness was rather charming and his character
development was the best next to Lizzie's.
She was smart, witty, and as you stated
knew what she wanted. Now a days if you write a character like this they pass her off
as a bitch or something of the like.
Mr. Bingley was the man I was rooting for with Jane
"No they HAVE to be together! COME ON AUSTEN." He was "Disney prince like" without
being boring.
I'm ashamed to admit I liked Wickham until it was discovered that he lied.
I actually hated the part where he ran off with Lydia "Great you're ruining a lady's life
with this scandal and you don't even care?!"
How did you feel about the Elizabeth's parents? I remember reading and watching
one of the movies thinking "Wow the father and mother tease each other just like mine do."
Only my own mother is quiet.

Emmaethyst In reply to NagaChelsi [2013-11-16 19:35:03 +0000 UTC]

The parent's friendly bickering was hilarious. I loved how the mother was so faint of heart and worrisome about everything while the father just played it cool and didn't flip out when he was told about Wickham/Lydia and Elizabeth/Darcy. They were so relatable and I couldn't help but think how my parents can be like that sometimes, except that my dad is the one who overreacts. I think the best part about the story is that it's so timeless. I kept forgetting that the book was published in 1813, and was able to relate a lot of the supporting characters to people I know. I guess personalities and everyday troubles always have and always be the more or less the same. Β

NagaChelsi In reply to Emmaethyst [2013-11-17 00:34:50 +0000 UTC]

I thought so too, the relate able parts of the book finding love, embarrassing parents (mostly the mother) siblings that get on one's nerves, Lydia's grand ideas on love and marriage were laughable and so out of touch with reality. My dad is more like the cool father of the book when something happens he asks the important stuff and then scolds someoneΒ  and usually makes a joke. My mother freaks out a bit then calms down.

Quiet charming.
I love the book too, haven't seen the movie though me mum tells me its great.
However fair warning.
If you value the classiness of the original Pride and PrejudiceΒ
DO NOT READ PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES
I had to read that book for college. I wish to burn it.
It is an unoriginal copy-n-paste zombie bit mockery of the true novel.
But still this is a lovely peice

It was for an essay about the rise of interest for Zombies in Pop Culture. Why is our generation is suddenly so interested in the undead. It was a lot of fun to write however I could've gone without reading that particular book.

I had the same problem!!!Β I wanted to like the story but I had to force myself through the book then see the movie twice and talk to someone who loved it before I FINALLY fell in love with it on the 3rd watch.Β

The language was a real barrier for me. But the true problem was understanding how Mr. Darcy CHANGED so much. And, of course, he didn't! He was never AS prideful as he seemed! They were both prideful and prejudiced. But they both realized those mistakes and got past them. It's a great story and I love it now!

This is a nice picture! She looks lovely and I like how you have him grayed out in the background.Β
