Brilliant composition. I like the lighting and shadows. It almost looks like a painting, instead of a photograph.

Thank you very much! I wanted it to have a more 'ethereal' feel to it...

Rick, you flatterer! Thank you - it's nothing, really. But I totally appreciate the props. I'll be looking for others to render in this way in the near future.

It is definitely SOMETHING...the image is stunning and only partly because of what you manged to do with it...mostly it's because of you BEING the image!

Meh. I'm no great shakes - and it's one of those things that I'm getting over by actually doing - the intimidation of being the subject of the image instead of being the creator of the image. I know there will be projects with school that will force me to be the subject of other images, so I might as well get used to the idea..

Great shot. The orientation and soft focus give it an ethereal/dream-like quality. Almost religious, in that it reminds me of classical paintings in catholic churches.

LOL, Troy - for someone who creates images without a hint of sharpness, it surprises me you'd comment that way. I can appreciate what you're saying totally, though, and would have liked to have made it sharper, but the quality of the original images was such that it didn't lend to that, so I ran with what I had and made the most of it. I'm really glad you liked it, though - I truly appreciate your input..!!

love the blur and pose; beautiful lighting; how did y ou set this up ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CPJPhoto In reply to FrodoPrime [2010-12-27 23:23:37 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
It was done at a makeshift studio in an old office building. The background was a rolled out white sheet of paper and the lighting was just some overhead hot/beauty lights and some off-subject omni-directional lighting. I took the image and darkened it, got rid of the superfluous stuff around the edges, and smudged the background to give it a more painterly feel. Sadly, the image was quite grainy (the original), so I had to draw on that to make the overall feel of the image ethereal and wispy by blurring, or rather, smudging the subject model as well.

well it came out great; I sometimes try to save a photo when I liked the pose or the feel of it and do the same thing; thanks for explainng; what photo courses are you taking?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CPJPhoto In reply to FrodoPrime [2010-12-28 00:41:28 +0000 UTC]

I'm going for my Bachelors of Fine Arts. I'm going to be starting my second quarter, so I'm still a youngling as far as academia is concerned.

And thanks again - we have entirely too many images that were 'discarded' for one reason or another. I guess I'm seeing if I can breathe new life into them with this sort of process.
