While replaying Mass Effect 3, I was inspired to do this piece during the scene when Shepard invited James up to his cabin to talk about joining the N7 program. I thought to myself, knowing what happened to Shepard at the end of the game, I wondered how James would react after becoming an N7 himself?

I saw it in my mind like this: on graduation day, Vega puts on a brave face, but after all the photos are taken and hands are shook, he retreats to a secluded area, a memorial statue honoring Shepard, and collapses in bittersweet grief at the knowledge that his XO, his mentor, and hero isn't here to see him become an official N7. All he can hear over and over in his mind is, "Your a helluva soldier, Vega... don't waste that opportunity." He whispers to himself, "I won't, loco... I won't"

This piece was my most ambitious one yet, taking well over 15-20 hours of work. I really tried to refine my drawing and complimented/enhanced it here and there with basic template textures. Hope you all enjoy.
