Description This image was taken somewhere around the Athabasca River. The rain was coming in so instead of walking I chose to go for a drive, and came across this. I got a little wet taking it but I think it was worth it.

This is one awesome shot. The water looks pretty awesome by the way it has the blurry effect. This photo has a dark and/or unexpected feel for rain and storm (I think). Definitely my . Also I left you a +devwatch:.

The water blur is surreal. I can't handle getting wet for a shot, I'm a total clutz, so the fear of dropping my shit in the water is just far too terrifying. Really great composition on this by theway, really great.

It's always "fun" trying to keep your camera dry while getting the right set up... not to mention I stopped the car in the middle of a bridge! Fortunately the road was not busy - and people are quite tolerant of annoying tourists stopping and starting randomly.

It's OK as long as it's "fun" for you ... ... and I know about that parking problems ... when you see a nice scene there often is no place to park the car right there ... that's why I prefer walking ...

I'd agree with you whole-heartedly with that. Driving is all well and good but it is still more satisfying to have found something that you reached by your own steam.

Well done. It flows perfectly. And the lighting is amazing. Not too dark to lose the details in the trees but dark enough to have an eerie feel. Wow.

Glad you like it. It was too good an opportunity to pass up for a few drops of rain.

Nice composition, Craig - I like the way every element in this shot flows directly to the mountain in the background. Plus it's dark and moody, which is my favourite type of image.

Its a great picture. Was this close to Jasper?

I believe so, certainly by car. I wasn't particularly paying any attention to maps at the time but if memory servers, you come out of Jasper, turn left onto highway 16, go over the big bridge on the right and carry straight on... From there I literally just followed my nose. As I say, I wasn't looking for anything in particular. IF it is the right road, at some point you come to a bridge that has this view.

If anyone actually knows what we are looking at I would appreciate knowing!

very nice shot, i love the way long exposures on white water look funky, the mountain looks kinda photoshopped, as if its not meant to be there, was it added or was it there? :S

Nope, it's part and parcel of the image. Nothing that actually been photoshopped into the image. The sky was brought out a bit more, and the contrast punched up a bit due to the bad weather lowering the quality of the light.
