Piece for the upcoming “Anime in the 90s” show at DART Gallery. Exhibit runs Feb 26 – March 8, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Dragonball/Dragonball Z will forever be special to me. For most people it’s that super slow, yelling anime that introduced them to Shonen anime. For me though it’s that show that I would stay up super late on a Friday night when I was young. It first aired at midnight on YTV and I would do my best to stay up to watch it. I’d sit on the couch with my blue blanket and 50% of the time I’d fall asleep before it started, but every weekend I would try, just to watch those first 13 episodes over and over again.
As an artist, that is my ultimate goal. To one day make something or contribute to something that has some young kid stay up till midnight in their own blue blanket.
