Amazing! Way over my head too. Yet this is the kind of detail that made inspired me to draw as a kid.

well I have a request from pixologic they ask me to describe my workflow so if u wait 4 a lil pixologic will post it on thier site i'll send a link 4 u when they do, as 4 vray nothing out of ordinary irmap+qmc bruteforce qmc sampling as an antialiasing method a vray hdri as an environment and 2 spotlights well and some PS'ing as well

The hips are strange, but that's from a biological perspective. What kind of thought do you put into designing your machines? Mine always come out looking too organic or skeletal...

well I not the one who designed this robot all wark was based on the concept of the flyingdebris [link] i've just made the whole thing in 3d

Great work. I'd love to know how you positioned those details so precisely in the normal map. Did you apply them directly from within Zbrush or adjust the details later in Photoshop?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crashmgn In reply to Ulysses-31 [2008-05-30 19:04:13 +0000 UTC]

i've used XSI ti bake the normal and occlusion maps from the hi-poly model no PS adjustment in the normal map just a raw file from the XSI

Ulysses-31 In reply to Crashmgn [2008-05-30 19:15:14 +0000 UTC]

So are you saying you did use ZBrush, or was the high-poly mesh modelled within XSI as well?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crashmgn In reply to Ulysses-31 [2008-05-30 19:21:37 +0000 UTC]

i've used z-brush only 4 sculpting and detailing the base mesh, after that hipoly was exported to XSI 4 normal and occlusion baking in fact i didn/t lake the normal maps generated by z-brush maybe zmapper is capable of producing more quality maps but i feel more comfortable doing this stuff in XSI
