Description Colonel General Gerd von Rundstedt, Adolf Hitler and Major General Friedrich Wilhelm Ernst Paulus in Warsaw.

On September 2, Army Group North continued its attempts to break through the Polish corridor. The main part of the fighting took place in the Tucholskie Forest. Two German infantry divisions from the 3rd Army tried to break through the Polish corridor from the east. By the end of the day they had almost succeeded in slamming the trap into which two Polish infantry divisions and one cavalry brigade were to find themselves. On the other flank of the 3rd Army, the Kempf Panzer Division tried to bypass the Mlawska defense line.  By the end of the day on September 2, it managed to break through, forcing Polish units to hastily retreat southward to the main line of the Vistula River.
The next day, Polish troops in the corridor were also ordered to retreat to the Vistula line. However, many Polish units in the area were already surrounded by German troops, with over 10,000 men taken prisoner. After the collapse of Polish defenses in the area, Army Group North began moving troops from Germany into East Prussia in preparation for a major strike on Warsaw.
In the south, von Rundsted continued to press the enemy in a northeastern direction through Silesia. On September 2, Wolski's Cavalry Brigade managed to hold off the 4th Panzer Division for a day, but soon the Polish troops were forced to retreat - their flanks were under threat of being outflanked by enemy tank units.
