I think you got it wrong. Philosophy of a knife says "we cut out what is incomplete, and we say: Now it's complete, 'cause here it ends."
If something's over, great. Cut it there, and you have a clean start for new things! And if you'll ever look back, see something complete you encountered, not a loss and things unfinished!
