After her talk with Lennart Randvi had felt... restless, uneasy, afraid, even. She had withheld information that could have very well saved many lives from the cruel grasp of the island. The she-wolf felt like she'd failed her very call as a Warden of Skydas. It was awful, especially for the first couple of days, and as summer loomed like a shadow over the Eastern cliffs, the ashen Gamma could only expect the worst. Would there be more deaths in the moons to come? It was a question she asked herself more and more the closer they got to the last day of spring. In the final hours, Randvi had approached her nest worried, praying to the spirits that the lives of her packmates be spared as much as possible. Inwardly, she hoped not to die a useless death like so many before her, either.

The next day came for the dark Warden, after all, and as usual, she woke up early in the morning. She was prepared for the cries of wolves finding the soulless shells of their beloveds, for anguished howls of orphaned pups or broken parents. She had gotten used to the Hearth drowning in tears with each beginning of season. Randvi had learnt to steel her heart to these losses, especially when it came to wolves who weren't as close to her.

But to her surprise and utter relief, the Hearth teemed with life, still, even in the dawn of the first day.

Will I ever stop referencing stuff in my work? Probably not soon but here's to hoping. On the same note, I hope I won't forget to finish fully lined, almost done pieces again.
