"Mortality is a blessing and a curse. The idea of an 'end point' to our lives gives us a sense of appreciation for it, making us cherish each moment as if it were our last. However, there are those who would try to escape this mortal coil, to break from the eternal clutch of death. To this extent, some have gone beyond levels of moral bankruptcy, warping themselves to a higher state of corruption than the obsessed Mauravai. They are the formless - strange, ethereal shades which exist in a state of eternity. They cannot die, for they have no life which can expire. Most, if not all, formless will immediately regret their breaking free of the mortal coil, now being unable to partake in carnal pleasures. They will seek out any unborn children, whether in the womb or in an egg, and they will possess the body until it matures, at which point the corruption of the formless finally takes its toll on the body, causing it to collapse, leaving only the formless to seek out another warm body."
