Description After a few weeks of building on this server, it dawned on me that i should at least make myself a home. Instead of following my old habit of building the same old tiny and practically minimalistic home ive been making for the last two years as my housing, i decided on pursuing a more grand design. With the assistance of RedPower Micro Blocks, i was able to make a home that felt spacious without actually taking up more space, and making some more depthy walls and furniture to boot. For the first time in a long while, ive decided to gift myself a sizable house instead of saving it for my friends on a server.

This house feels like one of my greats, but with my typical doubts. Although regardless of all of the above, im still gnawed on some self-deprecation and the drive to make better homes - although my commercial/municipal buildings tend to suffer.

Top three images are exterior shots, from the front to the back. Fourth image is the kitchen, trimmed with a pseudo-fridge, IndustrialCraft appliances, basalt counter tops, a somewhat poor attempt at overhead cabinets, and eating area in the far end. Bottom two images are of the living room with a ComputerCraft Monitor acting as a TV and a carefully set fireplace. i would add paintings to the walls to make them more aesthetically appealing, but given the placement of Micro Blocks as walls, paintings and even torches are difficult to place effectively. Damn hindsight. Enough monologue, hope you enjoy.

My previous house builds:
SMP Treehouse
Contractor Build
My last residence from long ago
The houses that started it all

TL;DR = I MAED A HOWSE EN MEINKRAFT

Cool. It would be kinda hard to make it so that not everyone could edit it, though.

if you save the program to a disk and keep it with you, that could possibly combat that problem. but the default snake game (program name "worm") might be prone to your concern - although at that point it would only effect that machine and no others.

WOW. I'm amazed by how compact you managed to make that. I made one and it was the size of 2 medium villages. Do the buttons have to be pushed in order?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrazyRonn In reply to 5etharama [2013-02-02 02:03:38 +0000 UTC]

kinda. the purpose of this lock was for a door in a shelved adventure map, but the constraint was it was an underground environment so i had to make it very compact. its a ten pad lock with a five key password, and the dud keys are wired to the reset. so even if you spam keys you will most likely just reset the RS latches you already tripped. i suppose a lucky person can figure it out, but the choice of a five key code was it wasnt too easy to guess and it cant break the lock by just pressing all the buttons. All the latches are grouped together in what i can only say is like a five way AND gate, and once all latches are flipped the door opens. before i shelved the project i was working on making it ordered, along with an endgame door that had the alphabet. problem was repeating characters >.<

Ah... I just about got that. In my one they all had to be in order, but the buttons that were part of the code but not in it yet didn't do anything. That's kinda confusing, sorry. XD

That was a very fast reply. I lost the thing, unfortunately, when I fell into the void and it reset my spawn point. Then my computer got stolen. It seems all the forces of minecraft didn't want me to have it XD

Not to mention the creeper blowing up your house when you went afk just for a minute and accidently left the door open... Or when I thought obsidian didn't burn in lava and jumped in after it before realising I couldn't get out again XD

What texture pack?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrazyRonn In reply to Candelabragenius [2013-01-31 02:05:37 +0000 UTC]

a bloated mix of three or so 32px texture packs, the parent being a custom DokuCraft with some personal changes and upgrades, with GUI from John Smith plus some of his Tekkit textures, finally with Sphax filling in the blanks

well in any case i use the dokucraft customizer for the base textures

[link]

then i download other texture packs and use simple photoshop to edit out parts and replace them with whatever looks nice
