that's amazing. I've been trying to create pieces that look like they could've been created 100 years ago and you manage it. wonderful style, cross hatching and mood. instant fav

You know, since I was a kid I have tried to copy Tenniels style (his drawings in the Alice series...not his Punch stuff) but it wasn't until the past few years that I came to the conclusion he based his drawing on photos. But the biggest charm of his Alice pieces is that he drew his creatures straight, or almost straight resisting the temptation to turn the animals into humorous cartoons creations.(Beatrix Potter and he shared this.).In the process, Carroll and Tenniel comming together to do those books, created the best children's book to date...with the exception possibly of the works of Beatrix Potter herself...

But after coming to DA I'm not so certain of this anymore...there are so many fantastic artists out on DA...some who even rival Tenniel and Potter. Sadly, I am not yet one of them... but I hope to change this...

dA Is both a fearful and delightful place of artistic talent! Both encouraging and discouraging. There are indeed some amazingly gifted artists about here! I just have to be careful not to take in too much!

Well, my wife is amazingly organised in her head and at school where she teaches, but I'm Mr organised at home! Although my work isn't organised properly in folders, etc. my work space is. I can't work in chaos because my thinking is so chaotic to start with, I need order to know where I am. I'm forever picking other peoples stuff up and putting it back where it should be. More finicky than organised I guess! I'm the one that gets blamed if anything goes missing though!!

Ha ha! I like that! So you get to surprise yourself with discoveries! Yay! I think I long ago exhausted my supply of hiding places. I'm hoping I had amnesia a while ago and that I'll discover I have a world famous collection of art somewhere! I've still got a few older things on the go on the hard drive that just need tidying up, so I've got a bit of a buffer!!

I went to my mothers house a couple of months ago, and she reminded me I had this old humpback chest up stairs, and I spent a couple hours going through it and found all these drawings I had done years ago, in fact these are the ones I recently posted...I totally forgot I had done these...

Oh! I'm jealous! I want to find a humpback chest with some of my old stuff in too!! I know!! I think I'll start one! It's got to be as good a place as any to store stuff! Just the chest needs to look exciting first! Then any future generations will automatically want to care for it and anything inside! Well, that's the theory!!!!

I love Spike Mulligan.at least with what little I'm familiar with....The Goon Show basically.
actually Spike Mulligan was in that Alice in Wonderland with Petter Sellers and Dudley Moore... John Cleese is pretty funny a well I use to love Monty Python...I wonder...do you remember a comedian named Marty Feldman? I remember as a kid seeing The Marty Feldman Show... he was also in Young Frankenstein, The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother and Silent Movie..I think he was hooked up to a lot of Mel Brooks movies.

Yes I did! I used to watch the Marty Feldman show with my dad back before I went away to college!! Used to love his eyes and then he disappeared to the US and loved him in all the Mel Brooks films! He died with a heart attack didn't he? Still relatively young! Shame that! Spike Milligan was my dad's favourite comedian. His books are very hilariously quirky too!
