I was actually messing around last night showing a friend how to render out a pic in Gimp 2.8 and place it on another pic and I randomly picked this backdrop. The minute I saw it I was like "Oh wow! I realllly like that!" And it was on after that, lol.

I've actually done a heck of a lot better jobs on hair, which has always been one of my favorite things to draw.....and eyes...love eyes.

My skills were mediocre back then in '97. I've done a lot of work improving and studying techniques via YouTube since then. Check out my other artwork on here that I've posted and you'll see what I mean, lol. Sorry if that sounds like bragging. Totally not intending it to be, lol. 

Back when I drew her I was only drawing on computer paper, but now I draw on Bristol paper....big difference, lol. 

So you're a pro digital artist....I would love to pick your mind. I am seriously considering taking some classes. Right now I'm self-training on Gimp but I would love to take some courses. I see it as a way of expanding my art career.....more like getting it started professionally, lol.

I know what you mean I actually did another drawing about 3 years ago titled "Serenity 2"....like she's an older version of the same girl or something.
 I like portraying that look of peace in the eyes when I'm free drawing from my mind and not doing a pencil portrait of a real subject. I have another portrait that I'll be posting here this week of 2 sisters. When I do I'll let you know. The older sister has that same serene look in her eyes. Funny thing is the younger sister ended up looking just like my daughter when she was around 12. I didn't even realize it until I was about finished. That portrait also came from a free drawing session.

Oh(!) one more thing.... I'm thinking of having a contest to see who does the best version of making Serenity Sky more realistic looking. The winner, based on others votes and my choice, get a free pencil portrait. What ya think?
