Description A swedish miltia from late 15th century/ early 16th. A famous German Landsknecht called Paul Dolstein fought these men. He was impressed by their unique weapon, the "Staffsword".
It is a weapon which has only been used in Sweden during the Middle ages. The access to the high quantity of iron in sweden allowed for there weapons to be made, while other european countries had to settle with pikes whom had a much smaller end.

They also carried baggy trousers which they rolled up when in heat or crossing a river. And where the first troops to be encountered equipped with water canteens. Which was not standard soldier EQ in those days. But the crossbow and their armor was pretty outdated then, and in peace they where normal peasants.

I like it! The spear is something strange and maybe a little thick, but it looks very good!

Yes exactly! I've read three books about the german Landsknechts and Dolsteins stories should be made a movie imo.
Glad to hear I have a fellow historygeek in my midst!

Yeah, thanks to the iron ore rich mountains. But, as mentioned, they where not up to date tacticly or in weaponry. But for a milita it is pretty good equipment.

Thanks! No, I'm fooling you, I add this texture to my sketches to make them feel more aged.
