Here is an updated picture of my Argentine Black and White Tegu, Lucien. He is now one and a half years old! Please leave comments I would love to hear them!Related content

I tried to find that episode on YouTube and I couldn't find it. I'm not sure what they said about them but yes, they can be tame. They are not domesticated like a dog. They are wild animals, to keep in mind. My guy has his moments, hisses, tail wipes, flinches away from me and puffs up to look big and bad but over all he's a good guy. I would suggest though to anyone who is interested in having a tegu they do a lot of research and has some experience in having a reptile as a pet.

animal planet is quite strict so they prob took it off. they said the same tegus are tame, but as i read up on other websites, they eat meat too. I volunteered with zoo before and am told that for animals that have meat in the diet they will bite sometimes. Do you feed him meat?
Maybe he's a vegetarian!~lol oh then like frilled lizard puffs up.

i thought iguanas are the tamest. I researched, tegus also eat meat. Do u feed yours with meat and berries? Does a tegu make any sounds?

Actually, I think in the lizard world Bearded Dragons are the most tamed along with Tegus and Crested Geckos.
Iguanas have been known to bite, Tamed or not. My Tegu Eats Eggs,Chicken, Mice, Turkey umm meal,super and horn worms and every single kind of fruit you can think of...Exept my Tegu hates tomatoes Also lettuce is a good food to feed Tegus.
Ive never heard my Tegu make any sounds..Im not sure if they make any you'll have to search that.

Lol i see. iguanas bite? Oh where i am we're banned from keeping exotic pets. I think some pple don't know how to take care of lizards and so on, and they should be in the wild. pple should only undertake if they have researched thoroughly abt the pets. i watch pets 101.
