"Chapter 5"

Fuu awoke slowly as she felt someone holding her; happily realizing it's Naruto, his still sleeping face inches away from hers with his arms around her shoulders holding tightly as if protecting her. "We've been without any communications here… Just now able to connect… Are you two okay? … Where's Naruto?"

"It was really bad. A lot of people have gotten sick. Just one bite from these… these monsters, and people fall ill… The few doctors here, including my husband, Minato, are at a loss as to what to do…"

"Kushina-san! Where do you place those people who've been bitten?"

Kushina looked concerned. "We're still in the park... At the moment, we have only four people who've been bitten and they're being kept sedated in the big field hospital emergency tent… Why?"

"Is anyone guarding them?"

"No… What are you getting at, Fuu?"

"Well, besides being immoral as well as unethical for us to abandon the rest of the people here, we are the only facility nearby here able to provide sanctuary and care for people… We have barricaded ourselves well; the monsters haven't been able to break in, and the few that have made it over the ramparts we've been able to destroy with machetes and torches… Before calling you, I called the government's emergency networks for help to get us out of here, but when it will come is uncertain … In the meantime, I want you and Naruto stay in the house, and stay holed up there, even if you don't hear from me or Minato for several weeks straight…"

Fuu (and Naruto) understood what that would see it coming, but she didn't want to discuss it. "Yes, Kushina-san," she smiled without doubt. "If that is your wish…"

"It is… And I want you to take good care of Naruto for us and do what you think best."

"Good! … We'll contact you as possible… Now, I must go…"

Finishing, they look outside, to see several zombies limping aimlessly down the street. Fuu wonders if they should get the guns from the closet and go outside to kill them, but Naruto rejects the idea. "No! Not unless they realize we're here and try to braking in… It would only alert more zombies to our presents… They don't know we're here. We must keep it so…"

Fuu understand and excuses herself to take a shower, saying she wanted to be alone for a bit to think; Naruto, having showered while she was preparing dinner, nods kindly and goes to the kitchen to clean the dishes, feeling it's the least he can do since Fuu did the cooking.

As he stands at the sink in only his white sleeveless tee shirt and orange shorts cleaning the silverware, Naruto ponders heartfelt on Fuu's confession to his mother about loving him. To be honest, he was surprised – yet, not – by her words. He'd always seen her as a little sister to protect, but since they both grew up, he realized his feelings for her were more than just that, but kept them a secret and pushed them aside, thinking them "improper." Indeed, in part, he even began his affair with Sakura to dispel his feelings for Fuu; and, to his wonder, it worked, for he did come to love her. Alas, this ended badly because his rival, Sasuke into the picture, and caused Sakura to leave him; the break up coming like a slap in the face hearing the petty nasty reasons she gave. However, hearing Fuu say that she's loved him all this time took him back a bit.
