Plot: Madeline is just one out of millions of good, hard-working people in the world who find themselves in circumstances beyond their power to control. Good people drowning in debt, sickness and despair, with no hope of salvation from their troubles. Yet out of all those people, it is Madeline who receives a lifeline from an unexpected source.

It's a job offer with amazing benefits! Great pay, PTO, vacation, sick days, free room and board...and a limited number of free resurrections should she die in the performance of her work?

After all, good help is hard to find in any age, and even the dark forces need clean floors and folded sheets as they plan the ultimate conquest of the Cosmoverse. Madeline will have to navigate a treacherous path through her host of new employers if she is to have any hope of returning home with body and soul intact. From the indifferent, the murderous, the coldly logical and the insane, each pose a different hazard. And all while struggling with the perennial question: Does mopping the Dark Lord's floors make her a baddie too?
