Yeah, mechanical pencil was my best friend in the beginning. But that was when I had a soft-leaded mech pencil, and it died, and its replacements are much too hard to use for too many areas of a drawing. It's a pity.
Um... I've been drawing since I could close my fist around a crayon. My mother used to buy me comics every week, and I copied the characters. Then I started to draw cartoon characters, ad then my dad showed me how to draw an apple using only light and shadow. That was my first realism, and I was... about six. But I didn't like realism. So I carried on with cartoons, until a few years ago. I guess I started it properly about two years ago, when I was your age.
I took art classes for a few years at school, but they were really basic, and I didn't learn anything I hadn't already taught myself at home. We did stuff like drawing a ball, a cylinder, a cube, and adding shading. Practice with perspective, drawing trees and buildings on a street. Then we finally drew from life. We did very basic figure study in class, and drew wine bottles and stuff. Then we painted our old school buildings with watercolours. :3 That was all.
We never did real portraits at school. I did that from scratch all by myself. The last time my art teacher saw my drawings, he told me I should stop drawing 'fantasy' and start doing realism. >.> Like any one genre is superior to another.
My parents bought me some books on how to draw, like different shading techniques, proportion, how to layer colours and so on. Nothing I couldn't have found online, if I'd had the internet back then. But I improved so much in the few years I've been on dA. Everyone's so inspiring and motivating.

It's the worst picture I've ever seen. Like, ever. Ever, ever. I hate you.
XD; I kid; I kid!! Although... I wasn't joking about the 'I hate you' part... I really do hate you. And envy you. Gah. Talented person... >.>;

Yes, but practice DOES make perfect. TT_TT I hardly ever practice anymore. And when I do have the time to, I get lazy and impatient and the result is...umm...deformed piccies.

I'm lazy and impatient too... I refuse to spend more than three hours on a pencil drawing, or more than about eight hours on computer art. I should probably force myself to slow down and do better stuff.

Eee, maybe... I just don't know how much confidence is appropriate. I don't want to seem pretentious.

Thanks a lot. I like using mechanical pencil... it doesn't blend well, but it's very precise.

Aw yeah! It's hard to find anyone who has even heard of them. ;_; It's hard being a fan of indies jrock. Even if I offer mp3s, no one wants to hear it 'cause if people don't talk about it 24/7 it must suck.

Yeah, they reminded me of Diru as well... and then when I was watching the Zetsu PV, my brother thought they were Dir en grey. But The more I learn about them, the more obvious it is that they're very different.

I'm jealous, that's not how I draw with mechanical pencils at all. I do a lot of blending with rolled up paper because I can't shade any other way. T_T
He looks so good! I love his eye. It's so nice... I'm so jealous... You made me wanna go draw to see if I can do it that way instead. I'm totally faving this, cos, you know... ta da, inspiration. <3 I love it.

His lips are a bit too full, aren't they? I just noticed because Rukis lips I like the most because they aren't so full. I like the hair and the stuff around his eye... is it from the No.666 PV? I guess there I saw it at noon this day that he had something on his eye like that. The necklace is really amazing, my sis would freak out and buy it. Really looks cool! Wish I had a Ruki at home...
Great work! I'm waiting for moooore! You know I love your works, don't cha?
