Description The Homeless Man's Tale

Prologue
I appear before you today as a homeless man,
Struck with so much bad luck I can hardly withstand,
Not a coin to my name, just the clothes on my back,
A testament to my shame, I make a hard living within an old shack,
You see me here, covered in rags,
I stand on frail feet that are covered with bags,
I'm sorry, but I haven't showered in weeks,
As you can see my skin stained with dirt streaks,
My hair is dark and dirty, drenched with lice surely,
But peer past my appearance and my personality can be seen purely,
A grand time ago, I was a good guy, never a bother,
Always lending a helping hand, but that was before I went under,
I come from a good family,
However they were struck by poverty,
Naturally it was passed to the next generation,
So now I'm stuck in the same situation,
Although I live badly I'm still happy,
But I want to make things better for me, you see,
So that's why I'm traveling with you today,
Traveling to meet this martyr and pray,
That one day, I can earn enough to live happily,
But hopes dim everyday, and I earn little, sadly,
I can hardly keep myself fed in my position,
So I tell tales to make sales and improve my condition,
I'll tell you all a tale, totally free of charge,
An interesting tale of a criminal at large.

The Tale
Allow me to introduce a thief named Dan,
He walked with peoples riches in hand and from the law he ran,
He who lived a wicked life of crime,
Who rose from rough beginnings to become a criminal mastermind,
He stalked houses at night; He dressed in dark clothes,
And when he was ready to strike, from the shadows he rose,
He was also every bit of handsome,
And every woman that went to him, he ended up holding for ransom,
His calm, happy demeanor was just a disguise,
He'd steal all your belongings in return for believing his lies,
Dan was raised by a good family, but you see,
Dan was unhappy with life early,
He came from a life of poverty as I,
His family was loving, but lack of longings made him cry,

So he sought riches, went seeking more and more,
Stealing everything in sight from every shop and store,
Years later he was set with riches aplenty, he could have whatever he pleased,
But his want for more money could not be appeased,
Soon, he sought another addition for his shiny collection,
A priceless object, a source of his affection,
Inside a local arms store,
Sits a sword cast from silver, a sight for eyes sore,
Only there was one problem, albeit light,
The store was guarded, all day and all night,
An armed knight watched over the hoard,
But Dan declared the sword would be his from that day forward,
He waited for the nights darkest hour, went to where the store and sword were,
The frightening knight was within sight, but Dan would not cower,
He snuck past the knight, silent as the wind,
Found a window opening and went in,
Even in the dark of night, the sword shone,
Dan took it, was about to go, but saw he wasn't alone,
Another guard stood inside, at the front door,
Unseen from outside the store,
He said, "Put it back and I'll cut you some slack,
Back where it was and I will not attack",
But Dan was not about to part from his precious prize,
Surrendering was wise, but such shiny silver had the power to hypnotize,
Dan spoke, "Look here, listen to the words I speak,
This sword is so splendid, it's just what I seek",
"If you so wish to own it, I only pose one question,
I wonder if you will really waste your life for that weapon?",
Dan explained, "Life is a bore, I can't be happy with one thing, I need more and more",
And so the guard swore, "Sorry, you can't leave the store with that sword",
So Dan aimed the weapon at his foe,
"Pry it from my cold dead hands, lets go!",
The two clashed, at each others heads they slashed,
And it was all over in a flash; Dan lay on the floor, his throat gashed.

Now people, the moral is pretty simple, not just that greed is bad,
But always be happy with what you have.
