A few friends and I were taking a walk in the forest behind my house taking pictures, since it was such a nice day. Now these woods are incredibly creepy most of the time; they just give you that gut feeling. There are stories about an native american burial ground being around here, and (regardless of what some people might think, I do believe in spirits and such) there is supposed to be a sort of 'ghost of suicide' around here. Down in the hollow where this was taken, there was a murder-suicide. There are many other stories in this area about similar things happening too, and they usually involve a hanging.

So we were headed back to the house, pretty much done taking photos, and the trees were creaking in the wind. And you know how sometimes they sound like other things - well the creaking sounded like a scream, like from a banshee. And I got freaked out and turned around, to check what was behind me since I was behind everyone else. And there was this branch. There was no denying that there was a screaming face on this branch, and it freaked me the hell out!!

I did a bit of photo retouching to give this more of a ambiance to it, but the face is there in the original print and negative, completely real and completely scary. (And look, I don't want to hear 'that's stupid' or anything about me being paranoid. I do have a tendency to find faces in everything - the grain in wood, patterns in fabric, but not in bark. This was real-looking. I wish you could see the real thing!)
