Degishi had a rare ability to curse others, and this made the people around him fear him as a kid. He would live a lonely and hateful life as no one in his town would want nothing to do with the boy. He would even get dirty looks from his family, and with all this hate and fear being thrown at him, others would think he would get the point and end his life. Though Degishi felt in-different about the whole situation, he didn't feel scared, hateful to the people, or pretty much anything. When the townspeople realize the boy was not going away, they decide to get rid of him themselves. Many tried to kill him but failed. Whoever tried ended up dying pretty soon after they attacked Degishi. Upon another attack on his life, Degishi defended himself by using his curse technique. It just so happened that Orochimaru was nearby as Degishi killed his attacker without hesitation.
