Challenge to myself: use different shades of only one color.
I cheated, because I used a purple marker as well as the blue stuff. Damn dirty cheater I am!!!

Talk about a long time, I worked on this guy a little every day for at least four months!!!
This is colored pencil over marker on smooth bristol.

While I was first drawing this out with a plain pencil I kept hearing on the radio linkin park's "the catalyst". every time I would change the station they would play that song. I heard it like three or four times in an hour. These lines kept getting my attention: "a thousand suns" and "where oceans bleed into the sky". I thought they were intersting images so into the drawing I added two more suns(one became a moon) and a sea in the background. I tried to make the sea reflected in the suns, but meh. Doesn't look that way. Also the baboon in the moon is supposed to be a lion.
