Description Forty-six years have passed since the Great Volcano stopped erupting and finally became dormant. North America has changed even more, some for the better, some for the worse. With the cessation of eruptions the various nations surrounding the Ash wastes moved in and claimed as much territory as possible. This led to the first accurate scouting of the area in recorded history (Lewis and Clarke never happened). Mexican explorer Juan Marco de Vallejo is the first to lead an expedition in to the heart of the blast zone and surveys much of the interior including the Great Crater. The Blast Wastes are soon marked out. This entire area is under tens, maybe even hundreds of feet of ash and would require decades of effort to move even with modern tech to the area is uninhabitable. However Vallejo discovered that many areas of the Ash Wastes were recovering and were now amazingly fertile.

Despite promises of otherwise many of the Native tribes that had survived the Eruption and Long Winter were swallowed up by the eager Nations as they pushed into this new territory.

Furthermore as was bound to happen several small wars broke out over these territorial changes. The first, the Norte War was little more than a shouting match between Mexico and Russia that resolved itself with a few well placed platitudes to both nations respective leaders. The second, the Pacific War, was a full fledged war fought between Russia and the Confederation of American States over New Elizabeth (Russian Name) or Pacifica (CAS Name). The war lasted for two years (1893-1895) and ended when the Russian Colonial Army was routed at the Battle of the New Amur River (Colombia River) near OTL Astoria and the Russians being unable to reinforce them due to the worsening war with Persia and the Ottoman Empire. The Compass Corp oversaw the end of the war and helped with post war recovery. The war also holds note that this is the first time a European country officially enters a conflict in the Americas since the ill fated American War for Independence. furthermore it is noted as the first war in which the world could see the American war machine. Bolt action rifles and machine guns (Kind of like Colt Potato Diggers)are common as well as breach-loading artillery. American infantry uniforms are unique as they have been independently designed since the late 1700's and are something of a novelty to the Europeans (will post pics later).

Although the CAS didn't entirely trust the Compass Corp (Within the CAS they are viewed as little better than pirates) they grudgingly begin to open relations with their new neighbor and look into possibly putting their merchant fleets under their protection.

Furthermore political stirrings begin to occur in Europe as several new forms of government are created. The first, Collectivism (OTL Communism), Libertarianism (OTL Syndicalism), and Nationalism, no need to explain.
