The dragonkin are a primal and somewhat primitive culture valuing men over women. In their society women are little more than housekeepers and breeders.
Each member of the dragonkin tribe is born with unique tribal markings, they are not tattoos

Amalthea is princess of the Crystal Dragonkin tribe, with an arranged marriage to the prince of the Shadow Dragonkin tribe in order to combine the tribes to save their kind from extinction.

Despite being named Princess, she's not actually related to the king.
The former queen had found Ama as a child after her mother passed on and presented her to the king in hopes that it would make up for her infertility.
The queen was still executed for the lack of a male heir, but the King kept Amalthea as a bartering chip.

She has a strong will and stubborn personality. She doesn't generally speak to men at all unless she is annoyed or angry. Amalthea has a rather subservient attitude toward males of her race due to the teachings of her people, however she won't take crap from males of other species and won't put up with things she doesn't like.

Excelsia is the small dragon you see with her in the picture. She keeps that small compact form in most casual settings, but otherwise she is an enormous Crystal dragon.

Fun fact - Her markings are reflective. Meaning if light shines on them, it reflects back and shines.
