This is an incredible photo. The lighting is perfect, just the right angle and exposure, bringing out an exquisite amount of detail and texture (the freckles and wrinkles in the skin, cracks in the lips, all of the shining bits of wetness--sweat on the upper lip, wetness in and around the eyes), all of which adds power to the emotion of the photo. The lighting from the side creates some deep shadows, a high contrast that adds intensity and a darkness to the piece. The expression and the features of her (your) face pack a serious punch of emotion as well--the cracked lips, carelessly loose hair, slight sheen of sweat, slight frown, coupled with the slightly wetter-than-average eyes and the hair partially hiding the face in a surprising touch of vulnerability are all subtle in themselves, but combine to create a picture of hardship, determination and anger with a touch of sadness that makes me wonder what happened to this girl--what comes to my mind is betrayal and vengeance. The choice to stick with black and white emphasizes the intense contrast and heightens the emotion of the photo. Extremely well done--a photo that truly captures an emotion intrinsic to humanity and life.

There is obvious pain reflected in her eyes and mouth. This pain she'll not run from or deny, but she won't be undone by it either. Although intense, it is momentary, but the effect on her soul can be neither hidden nor denied, so she doesn't bother.
The choice to portray the model in black/white makes her feelings seem all the more real. It is exquisite!

It's not slumber this portrait says ... it's Betrayed. I mean, can anyone else see that? She looks hurt, skinned, like 'you killed me', but there's also revenge in her eyes. Like she's saying that okay, you had your say, but i'm gonna heal. and then ... i'm gonna come for you

image is strong but doesn't say 'slumber' to me - I can't really find the right word even though I know there is one - I guess the best I could suggest would be 'Drained' - this says more emotional than physical exhaustion to me - damn what is the perfect word.........
