Inspired in the ying yang concept. To see this better, cover with your hand half of the face, then the other, you'll see the change of expression.
Also, the lip's curve, was to make it look "surrealistic". We all know how the Ying Yang looks like([link] ), so that's what I tried!

I love the concept, as well as your different expressions on the sides of your face, and use of make up to look like a sneer.

The white on your face is subtle, perhaps a little too subtle although I understand you may want to center the attention on your lips.

It would have been cool if you painted all of your face with the black lip side white, and vice verca, which is what a real Yin Yang is like, although of course, this is your interpretation of it. White mascara on black liner would have also made the colours pop and contrast each other more. I notice you usually have blue as a default colour for a lot of pieces, and it would have been more accentuating the black and white theme if the eyes were.

Also, maybe a headshot would've centered your art better, since there's nothing really on the rest of your body.

All in all, a very cool piece and definitely catches the eye. (Alright I'll stop critiquing every single thing now e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Wink/Razz"/>)

I love how the makeup was made so it looked like her mouth was in the form of a snarl, almost. Angry and serious, sharp and distinct on the dark side, and then soft and pleading on the other. Beautiful composition.

I really like this concept, but I think the white side is too subtle. Yin and Yang is all about the total balance between the two sides, and the black side overpowers the white side quite a bit. (Especially since the black side of the mouth is much larger than the white side. I like the shape of the sneer, but I think it would have worked better, balance wise, if the white side was more exaggerated as well.)

it is intereting to me that you chose your left side of the face to put the "angry/moody/unamused" expression. It has been scientificly prooved that the left side of our face shows our "real" emotions. Therefore for example, dogs concentrate always on the left side of the face to see how we feel.

Definately a cool piece. I tried the cover-half-the-face-up thing you suggesed and I really can see the difference in facial expression. I think the deep line coming down from the nose on the left side really helps the darkness look angry. The lighter side does look a little less angry, but I still think that half could use some more lightening up. The nostil still has a lot of definition on it, which makes it look flared to me. The eyebrow looks raised, which makes it have some agressive attitiude. They lighter eye actually looks scarier to me, because the dark eye is muted by shadow, but the lighter one is a piercing icy blue.

The lips are absolutely amazing. The left side has such a perfect sneer.

All and all, great photo I'd like to ask your permission to reproduce this and use it as a work-in-progress cover for my work-in-progress book that I'm writing. It will be visible to people on my righting site. (inkpop.com) The only change that would be made tothe photo is my writing my title on it, probably around the colar bone area.
