I don't understand how you can directly save your AI files as an image. Everytime I try, it doesn't have any available image types. Do you just transfer it onto photoshop to save it as an image file, or is there another way?
I LOVE your gallery, they are so vibrant and bold. This piece was very eye catching (although there were also many others) and I love the soft shading mixed with the hard lineart.

well I simply use the "export" to save the ai file as image.
if you are using "save as" there's just vector-based format available....

For this I used some simple gradients with opacity effects.. like multiply.
