Meaning: “Anger”

Pride: Mwanzo

Physical Appearance: Hasira has a reddish pelt with a darker dorsal stripe going down her spine. Due to her red color, her mother named her after anger, the emotion most associated with the color red. Her eyes are amber and her tail tip is dark brown.

Personality:

Brave: Almost to a fault. Hasira wants to be seen as fearless. On the other end, though, she is willing to take dangerous risks for important reasons such as for her pride or family. It’s not just a show, she has a brave streak.

Diplomatic: She knows how to get to the bottom of things and can read each individual well in order to be able to react in a way that is not offensive. She shows respect for all others (those who have earned it anyway), and sees more than two sides to every story and the gray in many issues.

Smart: Hasira can navigate her mind into making connections and arguments in order to debate with the best of them. Clever and observant, she thrives on learning and soaks up all the information she can.

Independent: She wants to be seen as capable and grown up and not needing any help.

Reckless (and brags about it): This is the other side of brave. She wants others to be impressed by her so tends to do amazing things that are probably incredibly stupid.

Self-Absorbed: It’s not like she doesn’t like hearing the droning and boring stories of others, it’s just that she knows she’s much more entertaining to listen to and has better stories. She might miss your pain since she has her own plans for the day. She has no lack of compassion, but tends to miss the plights of others unless told outright.

Intolerant: For cowardice, for stupidity, for weakness, and for a lack of talent. There are few second chances with Hasira. She also doesn’t understand this whole homosexual thing and turns her nose up at it. (OOC: This is NOT my personal opinion but I want to give my character some room to grow).

History: Hasira’s mother was a vagabond after her pride died out during a very long drought. The two survivors, who had not been particularly fond of the other, split up to find another Pride. Hasira’s mother found the Mwanzo pride, but not before meeting up with a rogue male in search of a pride of his own. The two nearly decided to begin their own pride, but Hasira’s father decided that it would be easier to drive an older male out of an already established pride.

Hasira’s mother, not wanting any part of the carnage her former mate was about to cause to an elderly male lion, left early the next morning without his knowledge. Her mother was not showing when she joined Mwanzo and kept her pregnancy a secret for the first couple of weeks. When her cubs were born, she had already made friends.

Hasira was one of two cubs born. Her younger brother died only a few weeks after birth. She barely knew him as he was sickly from day one. This made her the only child, however and she understood the value of being the strong one from this. Never wanting her mother to have to lose another cub, Hasira was determined to survive. She flourished, in part because her mother doted on her after her brother’s death.

Other: Hasira is heterosexual. Her mother sometimes calls her ‘Sira’, but she doesn’t like anyone else to.
